I had decided to spend Christmas in Tanta, but the youth have
convinced me that I should go to Cairo to be with them. I cooked
spaghetti for them the first night and invited my English conversation
student, Mohamed, to join us. On the second day they went to Alexandria
and returned that evening. I invited the medical director of the
hospital to join us, and he furnished the food for a chicken dinner.
I didn't realize how tired I was, and after baking a pie, I started
to defrost and skin the chicken, but I knew I needed help. I prayed
for a helper, and the doorbell rang. It was Mohamed. He wanted
to know if I needed and help, and he sure helped! He prepared
at least half the dinner, even though he couldn't join us. The
Lord surely provides.
I became a godmother this summer when Stephen Kerolles Rami was
born. What a joy he is, and growing so fast. I dread to think
of leaving here and not seeing him grow up.
Again, my best wishes for a wonderful Christmas, and hopefully
a peaceful 2003.
Grace, peace and love,
Shirley
