Dear Friends,
The Lord has been so gracious to us during this time that weve
spent in the United States doing mission interpretation. Certainly,
a major blessing has been meeting with the congregations who have
been sharing in our ministry by their prayer and financial support.
We recently returned from a three-week trip to Pennsylvania where
we met new, wonderful friends in Freedom and spent time with dear
friends in Pittsburgh. Then it was on to Huntington, West Virginia,
where we discovered a church on fire for the Lord and the mission
to proclaim the gospel of Christ. It has been such an encouragement
to share with brothers and sisters who love and serve the Lord
Jesus. We have been fed so well by our hosts that our recent doctors
appointment was a time when the doctor was admonishing us to get
back to China. One special treat was homegrown asparagus, which
was wonderful and covered in cheese sauce and eggs. Yum! Then
the peanut butter pie, the steaksyou get the picture. As
one of our friends said, "Its time to eat grass."
Our time with our own family has also been a blessing. The prayer
and goal to move both of our mothers to new places of comfort
will be accomplished by the time we return to China. Our son has
been called to a church in Florida and our daughter is working
as an assistant director for interns at her church. So, the family
members are settled in situations for which we praise the Lord.
The final blessing has been the communication that is flowing
between our new university in Chengdu and us. Sichuan University
is one of the largest universities in China, and were looking
forward to teaching there. Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, is in
the southwest region of China. Its an entry for Tibet as
well as being close to the border with Thailand. It will be a
new region for us to experience.
Finally, we still believe that your prayers are extremely important
in our ministry. For the next few weeks, we ask you to pray that
the "moves of the mothers" will be peaceful and smooth.
Weve been helping our son move as well so it will be a busy
few weeks. Then, of course, we ask you to pray for traveling mercies;
traveling with extra baggage after September 11 will be even more
troublesome. Since we have been home all year, all of our books
and belongings are here; now they have to return with us. Most
of all, pray for God to go ahead of us in Sichuan University and
prepare hearts to be fertile ground. Naturally, you can also pray
for our health. Beginning in September, you can write to us at
the above address, and our Yahoo e-mail address will remain active.
Again, thank you for all of your care and support.
Blessings,
Susan and Jay Boone
