April 2000
Since we last wrote to you during the Christmas season, our family
took a relaxing 10-day vacation on the southern beaches of Brazil,
spent lots of time in the water and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Upon our return home, the kids went bank to school and Marta
and I to our work.
Jennys health worsened somewhat at the end of the year.
So in early January her doctor requested another colonoscopy.
Several biopsies were taken and as a result, we learned that her
condition is actually Crohns disease, another inflammatory
bowel syndrome similar to the acute colitis she was original diagnosed
with. Consequently her treatment has been adjusted and she has
shown definite improvement. Thank you so much for your prayers.
Yesterday I met with church leaders of the Independent Presbyterian
Church of Brazil to review plans for the identification and mapping
of the least evangelized peoples and river populations of Amazonia.
I cannot overemphasize the strategic nature of this project in
partnership with Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship and ask for
your prayers that God would clearly direct all parties involved
so that emerging projects of compassion and evangelism will have
a profound impact on this region.
Ill keep this note short because we want to invite you
to check out our new home page at http://www.redrival.com/carriker.
It is almost fully functional. But pictures on the Family page
and the Ministry Page do not yet link up to their enlargements.
Hopefully well get that fixed soon. This is our first stab
at creating a home page, so we welcome your comments, additions,
and suggestions.
The richest blessings of Christ to you all,
