A letter from Linda and Paul Fahnestock in Brazil

July 2003

Dear Friends and Partners in Ministry,

Greetings from Natal, Brazil.

Two to three times per year, we send out a newsletter in hard copy through our very efficient colleagues in Mission Connections at Worldwide Ministries Division. The last one was mailed in May 2003. Some of you are on our newsletter mailing list, but did not receive the May newsletter because you recently had a change of address. Mission Connections receives notice of your new address and changes it on the mailing list, but it does not forward the returned newsletter (it’s too expensive). But you will receive the next newsletter at your new address.

Paul and Linda Fahnestock visited the Presbyterian Church in Vera Cruz with the Rev. Bob Henley and his wife Jane. The church's preschool reaches 24 at-risk children.

Others of you who are on our email mailing list are not on our Mission Connections newsletter mailing list. If you would like to be, you may send an email to Anne Blair at Missions Connections at ABlair@ctr.pcusa.org. Send her your name and address and let her know that you would like to receive the Fahnestock newsletter.

The Reverend Bob Henley, a current member of the board of The Outreach Foundation, and his wife Jane came to visit us in May to see what God is doing in northeast Brazil. Here we are visiting the congregation of the Independent Presbyterian Church in Vera Cruz, a small community located 30 miles west of Natal. Gleidson (left of Jane) and Jiliani (right of Bob) are the Brazilian missionary couple guiding the work in Vera Cruz. Gleidson is a third-year Missionary Training Center student. Jiliani is the director of the preschool at the congregation which is reaching 24 at-risk children; the children are being prepared to enter and thrive in the public school system. The preschool has an active partnership with Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. That’s Linda on the far right.

Thank you very much for your prayers and encouragement. Send us a quick note and let us know how you are doing.

Nosso grande abraço, (our big hug)

Paul and Linda
