A letter from Carol and Leith Fujii in Thailand

May 30, 2006

Dear Family and Friends,

June is an exciting month in our lives, as two of our children will be graduating, Joy from university and Mark from high school. Both will be embarking on new journeys, as Joy will be commissioned in the Army and later will be stationed in Korea. Mark will be entering university in the Chicago area. It will also be special because we will be returning home for a year of itineration with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as mission co-worker representatives of Thailand to our U.S. congregations.

Carol and Leith Fujii will be on interpretation assignment from June 2006 until June 2007.
It is also a very special time in Thailand, as we honor our King of Thailand, celebrating his sixtieth year of reign. King Bhumipol is currently the world’s longest-ruling king, and he’s being honored by the UN with a special visit from Kofi Annan to give him the United Nations Development Program’s Human Development Lifetime Achievement Award.

King Bhumipol has been the key reason why Thailand has enjoyed peace and stability for many years. His has been an example of a servant leader, with great integrity, dedicated to the welfare of his people. He has been a wonderful role model for all those who are in positions of authority throughout the world. Join us in thanking God for these special people and events.

We look forward to be with you again for an opportunity to meet for the first time as well. The following is a sketch of our summer schedule.

Would you please pray with us:

  • We are in need of a dependable used car that we can either borrow or buy (good mileage) for eleven months.
  • An economical cellular phone service that the family can use (three or more people).
  • To be able to borrow basic furnishings for our apartment. We have beds already!
  • Transitions for our family, as we enter many new situations. May we experience His grace on us.
  • For safety in travel and meaningful connection with PC(USA) church families and beyond.
