June 2006
Friends,
We have helped four presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
form partnerships with the Spanish Evangelical Church and the
Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Portugal. Some of the activities
involved in the partnerships include:
- Training young adults from Spain and Portugal in youth outreach
through Presbyterian summer camps here in the United States.
- Beginning new church plants in southeastern Spain and in the
Lisbon, Portugal, area.
- Assisting the Spanish Evangelical Theological Seminary to
attract new students to its new campus in El Escorial, Spain.
Three Portuguese students have just graduated and will begin
service as pastors in Portugal.
- Helping to nurture the four partnerships between PC(USA) presbyteries
and their sister presbyteries in Portugal and Spain.
- Northern Waters Presbytery (Lake Superior region) and
Cherokee Presbyteries (Atlanta region) with the Evangelical
Presbyterian Church of Portugal.
- Wabash Valley with Andalucia Presbytery (eastern Spain)
and Eastminster Presbytery with Levante Presbytery (southern
Spain).
- Taking mission teams from these four Presbyteries and local
churches to participate with work teams in Spain and Portugal.
- Assist in beginning an outreach program at the University
of Valencia.
- Lead two four-week youth ministry programs in Cartagena
and Tierra Vieja.
- Assist in summer youth camp programs and street youth
ministry in Portugal.
- Facilitating the visits of key Spanish and Portuguese leaders
so that they may learn from the four presbyteries and vice versa.
- Encouraging work among immigrant people in the Spanish, Portuguese,
and U.S. churches.
We continue to enjoy living in the Sacramento area and connecting
with old friends. We regularly see Andy and Kathy with their four
children and Susan with her two. We take regular trips to Los
Angeles to visit Bryce III and Raeanne and their two children
and Robert and Lynda and their two girls. Our grandchildren, ranging
in age from 3 to 14, bring us much joy.
Yours sincerely,
Bryce and Phyllis Little
