We hope that our leave of absence
from Haiti has been fruitful. During these weeks more than a dozen
congregations have graciously welcomed us for worship and to present
and discuss the hospital’s activities. Together with the
PC(USA), the Medical Benevolence Foundation, and key congregational
mission leaders, we have held many conversations for planning
and improvements of the hospital’s programs. We have felt
personally blessed by sufficient time for reading and prayerful
reflection in God’s grace.
Both of us give thanks for the hospitality and kindness with
which we have been taken in everywhere we have traveled, and we
are especially grateful to our brother Bob and sister Janie of
Dunedin, Florida, who received and have endured two “homeless”
mission co-workers with open arms of love and patience. We are
grateful as well for all prayers of support and good wishes offered
during the final days and death of Paul’s well-loved mother.
We are anxious to return to our jobs and life in Mombin Crochu,
and now God has opened the door for us to resume service in Christ’s
name there. There will be joy in reunion with Haitian friends
and co-workers, and we are looking forward to the restoration
of daily purpose for us in the mission of Covenant Hospital. Many,
many thanks to each of you for your prayers and encouragement
as we return—it’s time.
In the Peace and Grace of the Risen Lord,
