Greetings!

Chris McReynolds is the new U.S. coordinator for Proyecto Amistad.
My name is Chris McReynolds and I have been selected as the new
U.S. coordinator for Presbyterian Border Ministry’s Proyecto
Amistad with offices in Laredo, Texas, and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas,
Mexico. I am very grateful to be blessed with the opportunity
to serve the church through this ministry. Although I am not exactly
new to Proyecto Amistad, I am very excited about the work ahead
as I join Mexican coordinator, Roberto Medina, in facilitating
relationships and church partnerships among U.S. and Mexican churches.
I have served on the Amistad board of directors, volunteered in
the office, and have spent much time over the past eight years
or so with coordinators Susanne Frerichs and Roberto Medina as
they interacted with the mission teams and the Presbyterian churches
in Mexico. I am very grateful to Susie, Roberto, and many others
in the ministry for their help and friendship through the years.
I believe God has been preparing me for this work for a long
time now. Having grown up on the border, I have worked in ranching
(with lots of planning and sheep to keep!), construction (ministry
folk sure like to build!), and most importantly, I have been taught
about relationships by family and friends who relate to one another
under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I believe God has impressed
upon me the simple fact that He cares, primarily, about our relationships—our
relationship to Him and to each other. These relationships outweigh
even our physical and material concerns.
Although I am single, I have a close and supportive family in
the area where I serve. For the last six years I have worked a
“desk job” at Laughlin Air Force Base. Recently, I
have begun taking online classes from Fuller Theological Seminary’s
School of Intercultural Studies. These classes have been very
interesting, rewarding, challenging, and applicable to the work
at Amistad. I hope to continue this class work in addition to
my work at Amistad.
I look forward to working and fellowshipping with you all as
we join God in His work of unifying and strengthening His body,
the church, in order to better serve those who do not yet know
Him as Lord and Savior.
In Christ’s service,
Chris McReynolds
