Amistad prayer update

Some of the participants of the Noreste Presbytery meeting in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, on Saturday May 17.
I attended Noreste Presbytery meeting in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, on Saturday May 17. Noreste, with its 11 churches and 10 missions, is the presbytery that Proyecto Amistad works most closely with in Mexico. With a usual attendance of about 40-50 people, the regular meetings are much more intimate than those of Mission Presbytery in Texas, my home presbytery. I enjoy knowing almost everyone by their first name and am able to get a glimpse of what is going on in the life of most of the churches and missions. I am blessed by their fellowship. Please, pray for the work and the life of this presbytery in northeastern Mexico.
I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
Psalm 77:1
Please join us in praying for the following:
- Give thanks to God for the service of the Reverend Carlos and his wife, America Peña, of Uno en el Espiritu (UEEE) Presbyterian Church of Piedras Negras, and especially for America's service as missionary to El Divino Salvador Church of Sabinas, Coahuila. Pray for their success and future ministry work as they return to Chiapas, and pray for the life of UEEE.
- Give thanks for the seventh anniversary celebration at Fuente de Vida church in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, last Sunday May 18. The church welcomed five new members, four of whom were baptized during the service. The many friends attending included students and teachers of the local Bible institute, which meets in Fuente de Vida’s facilities, representatives from First Presbyterian Church San Antonio, and Proyecto Amistad.
- Give thanks for the service of the Reverend Felipe Tovar and, wife Rebecca, who have served Fuente de Vida for six years. As I have mentioned in prior updates, they will be leaving in June for another call from a Presbyterian church in Michoacan.
- Please pray for healing for Ruby Medina. Roberto's niece, Ruby, has been in the prayer update before. She has been very ill in the hospital. Ruby suffered a failed kidney transplant and is on the waiting list for another. The state of Ruby's health tends to fluctuate, but she has been having a particularly difficult time lately. The family and friends have been donating blood as often as they can for her benefit.
- Pray for the new monthly gathering of Presbyterian pastors here in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Amistad hosts this get-together in which the three pastors and missionary and Amistad’s coordinators share information, fellowship, and offer personal and congregational support to each other.
- We thank God for the safe return of Federico, brother of Nelly Hernandez of Victoria en Jesucristo.
In the morning O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
- Psalm 5:3
