Who needs gold if you have glitter?
Hi All,
I wrote this and realized you might be interested too. A fifth-grade
Sunday school class at my home church, Peachtree Presbyterian,
sent a package filled with glittery posters. Youll get the
rest.
Dear Fifth Grade at Peachtree,
We had so much fun in class today! I brought your package of
posters and glitter and the pencil sharpener. (Finally! I got
it about three weeks ago, but with exams coming up, it was important
to be prepared. If you dont pass, you have to do that
year of school over again.)
I was pretty sure none of them had ever received a package
before, so I let one of the students open it. Phiona opened
it and peeked in but I think she was scared to take the contents
out! So I held onto what was inside and she pulled the envelope.
It was your peace posters! The students saw the one on top and
looked at each other like it was so cool. Then we saw the letter
from your teacher and read it. It was a little hard for them
to understand ( I think) why anyone would give away something
as wonderful as your peace posters.
I said they could have the posters, and everyone started grabbing.
I thought we were three short and there were some very disappointed
faces. But God worked it out. We discovered that some were stuck
together and when we took them apart, there were exactly enough.
The posters were handed out at the beginning of the hour, and
kids couldnt stop looking at them all through the lesson.
(Later I even saw three of the teachers trying to get them from
the students, but no way were they giving up their posters!)
We also had a great time with the glitter inside the package.
I saw it and told everyone to come to the front of the room.
Then I stood on a desk and shook it all over them. They laughed
and picked up as much as they could to put on their skin and
in their hair. Their skin is very dark, and it looked beautiful
on their laughing, surprised faces. Wish you could have seen
it. Ill never forget it.
You guys probably didnt think too much about it when
you made those posters, but they meant a lot to the kids and
to me. Thank you so much for sharing.
Love,
Ruth
