| Irene Sivalee recuperates
very well from a surgery in July. She is taking care of the library,
giving fines to students who dont return books on time. Teaching
keyboard lessons to children of our students is quite a challenge
and takes part of her time. Irene also visits students in their
field work, listening to their joys and problems. Typing and responding
to letters are also part of her ministry at the Central West CTM.
In addition, she takes students to see doctors, dentists, and other
health-care specialists, takes the blood pressure of and gives special
care to those who need attention when Michael is traveling to the
other parts of the country.
Our home assignment We arrive in Wooster, Ohio, on December
15, 2000. Please contact the Reverend Robert E. Lodwick (Irenes
Dad) at (330) 264-0594 and schedule us to speak at any events
in your church. We will be able to itinerate from January 2, 2001
- March 2, 2001. We hope to see you all during that period. We
will return to Brazil on March 5, 2001, and continue at Central
West CTM until December 2004, Lord willing. Our school will open
and class will begin on March 12, 2001. Please continue to pray
that the Lord will send us students for the next year.
Our assistant, Maria E de Oliveira We are very happy to report
that she is doing very well. She hopes to take courses at the
Independent Presbyterian Seminary in Londrina, Paraná,
as she wants to have a bachelors degree. She is a dedicated
young missionary with a bright future. She works with the first-year
students, helping them with their study, spiritual uplift, etc.
Needs at Central West CTM As we are thinking of 2001 we hope
that we will be able to buy 200 more books and to complete work
at the new building, which will be used for administration, classroom,
and library. It needs a floor, lighting system, air-conditioning,
paint, etc. It also needs landscaping, grass, and a front wall.
(We will send you pictures later about the building and grounds.)
Michael Sivalee serves as director, professor, and counselor
at Central West CTM. He also serves as a pastor of small congregations
of the presbytery. This year he was elected moderator of the Presbytery
of Mato Grosso-Rondônia. He was able to lead this young
presbytery to return to have a mind for mission. All of the little
congregations in our presbytery will receive workers, thanks to
the Central West CTM. Our presbytery of Mato Grosso-Rondonia is
seeking an international partnership with any presbytery in the
United States that is interested in new church planting with social
work and a strong educational system for the community. Please
let us know if any presbytery wants to be a partner in mission
with us.
Again, we wish you a "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,"
that Christ will continue to bless you all. We do appreciate your
prayers and support. We will send you another letter after we
take pictures of the graduation, building, students, etc., thus
you can see the progress and needs. See you all soon!!
In Christian Service,
Michael and Irene Sivalee
