A letter from Bob and Bobbi Snyder in Zimbabwe

December 2005

Dearest Friends and long-time Supporters,

We are writing today to tell you about what has been happening in our lives, to share our future plans with you, and to celebrate with you the worldwide blessings of Christmas.

Joyous and healing events have kept us focused on the Lord’s Grace and the encouragement of friends like you:

  • The birth of our first grandchild, Josiah Caleb Moltz, occurred the day after we arrived in New York from Zimbabwe.
  • Bob had successful back surgery on August 31st and is healing nicely, rejoicing at being without severe pain.
  • Bobbi has been getting weekly aggressive physical therapy for her back problems.
  • Bob had benign prostate surgery on November 29 and is healing day by day.

During these last few months in the States, it has been our job to continue to communicate with our partners in Africa, assist in the orientation and training of our replacements on the field, interpret the mission to churches in the United States, and to get well.

Our African friends have taught us much about the faithfulness of God in the everyday life of finding food, shelter, and wholeness through humble obedience to the Lord.

Evelyn Underhill once wrote about being faithful in the ordinary. She spoke of the Magi, “who, through the normal course of their lives were taught by the heavens to follow a star; and it brought them, not to a paralyzing disclosure of the Transcendent but to a little boy on his mother’s knee.”

We pray that our lives might be humble and faithful in the little things of life so that our great God can demonstrate His faithfulness in ways of His own choosing. Our future is uncertain, but we know that our time with Worldwide Ministries will end January 31. As of January 1, 2006, we will be living at

Our replacements, the Reverend Ted and Sue Wright, arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, on October 27, 2005.
It gives us great pleasure to use this letter to introduce you to our replacements, the Reverend Charles “Ted” Wright and Sue Wright. Ted and Sue arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, on October 27, 2005. Prior to hearing the call to ministry in southern Africa, Ted had been the pastor of Langhorne Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for 22 years.

Sue had been a clinical therapist and social worker, helping both children and adults. The Wrights bring many gifts that will greatly help in their new work. For many years, the Langhorne Church has had an ongoing partnership with a church in Zimbabwe, so they come to this position with a heart for Africa. Last November, when we began to talk with them about considering this position, we shared with them the African proverb that says, “Once you taste the waters of Africa you will always be coming back.” It is true that Africa is the kind of place that will steal your heart. We are happy to be back in the States, yet we will always have a heart for the people of Africa.

It is our prayer that you will continue to support the Wrights in the same strong manner in which you supported us. Ted and Sue remain committed to all the work in which we were engaged. Please feel free to contact them directly.

As we celebrate this Christmas, we rejoice in the news the angels brought,

Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11

Have a blessed and joyous Christmas.

Bob and Bobbi Snyder
