The Fahnestocks have ended their term of service as PC(USA) mission co-workers. The address above is correct as of January 3, 2005.

Paul and Linda Fahnestock were appointed to serve in Brazil in January 1998. After studying Portuguese in Campinas, in the south of Brazil, they moved to the coastal city of Natal, in northeast Brazil, to serve with the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPIB). Paul teaches at the Centro de Treinamento Missionário – Nordeste, or CTM (Missionary Training Center – Northeast), which trains Brazilian missionaries and evangelists. Students at the CTM have sensed a call to evangelism, church planting, and mission in both rural and urban settings in Brazil. Linda coordinates PC(USA) service projects and travel/study short-term teams to Northeast Brazil in partnership with the IPIB.

Paul and Linda Fahnestock

Paul and Linda have worked closely with the Outreach Foundation and the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPIB) on the Sertão Project, initiated in January 1999. The sertão is a densely populated semi-arid region in the interior of northeast Brazil. Currently, the IPIB has a team of missionaries working in the project in Patos, São Mamede and Malta in the state of Paraíba; Cruzeta and Caicó in the state of Rio Grande do Norte; and Palmeira dos Índios in the state of Alagoas. The project adheres to the theological principles of the holistic church, addressing the spiritual and physical needs of the communities. Paul and Linda visit the project regularly, and many of the PC(USA) mission teams that Linda coordinates also visit and work with the Brazilian missionaries serving the church-planting project.

The Fahnestocks were originally appointed and commissioned by the PC(USA) in 1995 to serve in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. They shared the gospel with the Uzbek people as they helped establish an eye hospital in Tashkent, the capital city. Upon their return to the United States in 1996, the Fahnestocks were missionaries-in-residence at the Presbyterian church center in Louisville, Kentucky. Paul worked in the Office of International Evangelism, and Linda worked on a special mission-funding project in the Worldwide Ministries Division.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, Paul graduated from Friends University with a BS in human resources management. Before following a call to ministry in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Paul worked sixteen years as vice-president of sales and marketing at Fahnestock Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., a family business in Wichita. He earned a master’s of divinity degree with an emphasis in cross-cultural missions from Reformed Theological Seminary, in Jackson, Mississippi, and was ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA). He is a minister member of the Presbytery of Southern Kansas.

Linda was born and grew up in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in English literature. She was a total quality management facilitator for the Boeing Company in Wichita and for Beech Aerospace and St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She taught English as a second language to international students at Reformed Theological Seminary. Linda is a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Wichita.

Linda and Paul were married on September 10, 1969, and they have two married children, Chaitan and Marisa. Chaitan and Courtney live in Dallas,Texas. Marisa, Peter and granddaughter, Phoebe, live in San Antonio, Texas.
