In addition to frequent trips to Pakistan, David has participated in several mission initiatives of the CNI. He serves as the honorary co-chair for CNI’s program “Congregational Renewal for Effective Engagement in Mission) and has attended workshops on human trafficking, HIV/AIDS education, “Re-reading the Bible,” disaster preparedness, and micro-finance. David helped prepared liturgy for Reformation Sunday and is working with the CNI’s Theological Commission.
This is the Hudsons’ third appointment as PC(USA) mission co-workers. At the invitation of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan (PCP), David and Sue lived in Lahore (1995-1998), where they served the Education Board of the PCP, Gujranwala Seminary, Kinnaird Academy, and other initiatives supported by church partners in Pakistan.
The Hudsons’ first call to mission led them to Seoul, Korean (1980-81 and 1983-88), where they taught at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary and helped coordinate the graduate school for church leaders, an initiative of the Presbyterian Church of Korea.
Prior to their assignment in India, the Hudsons were co-pastors of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, North Carolina (2000-07). Sue’s first call as a pastor was to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, Florida, where David served as interim general presbyter for Peace River Presbytery and interim minister at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bradenton. David has also served as minister of Troy Presbyterian Church in Troy, North Carolina (1989-1995).
David holds a D.Min. from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, a Th.M. and an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey, and a B.A. from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Sue has an M.A. from Princeton Theological Seminary, an M.T.S. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and a B.A. from Wake Forest. She is a certified Christian Educator in the PC(USA) and after additional coursework at Pittsburgh Seminary was ordained by Pittsburgh Presbytery.
David and Sue are both minister members of Coastal Carolina Presbytery. They are parents of two adult children, Rebekah and Rachel, and one daughter, Mary, who lives with them in India.
