Email: Melanie Mitchell

In January 2004 Melanie Mitchell was appointed to serve as pastor of the Iglesia de Cristo, a Spanish-seaking, multicultural church in Madrid, Spain. The church is part of the Madrid presbytery of the Iglesia Evangélica Española.

The path that took Melanie into mission service in Spain began when she was a teenager. “At age 17,” she writes, “I went on my first medical mission trip, believing that I was taking God with me. I was surprised to find when I arrived in Honduras that God was already there.”

Melanie has learned that mission, as an encounter of the other, leads to the discovery that God is at work among people we never even knew about, of backgrounds other than our own, with whom our common ground is the God whom we claim to have known all of our lives.”
