| Chenoa's first experience doing
overseas mission was with a Habitat for Humanity trip to Lesotho
as a junior in college in 2003. This short period of service moved
her to apply to the popular Young Adult Volunteer program of the
PC(USA). Chenoa served as a Young Adult Volunteer in India from
August 2005 to July 2006. She lived in Thiruvalla, in Kerala,
serving with the Church of South India and teaching conversational
English in a primary school and in a nursery teachers’ training
school.
“The experience [living in Thiruvalla] opened my eyes to
the rest of the world,” writes Chenoa, “and the struggles
that occur throughout the world. I feel my faith grew tremendously,
and I now have a deeper understanding of my role as a Christian
and how I am called to work for justice and show unconditional
love, as Jesus did, throughout my daily life.”
Chenoa is the daughter of Carleton and Elinor Stock, both ministers
of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA). She holds a B.A. from Wittenberg
College in Springfield, Ohio, in early childhood education.
Chenoa is a member of East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania.
