What is the mission trip experience all about?

  • A mission trip is an exciting, engaging experience in which faith is put into action by partnering with brothers and sisters from different cultures and life experiences.
  • Participation in a mission trip offers you and your church group a chance to share your time and talents with cross-cultural partners to learn, worship and serve together.
  • Participation in a mission trip offers both travelers and hosts the opportunity to see themselves with new eyes as they cross cultural and often spiritual borders.  Upon return to your home context, you can respond to your mission trip experience in a variety of ways.
  • Once your group decides to participate in a mission trip, discern where in the world God is calling you. God has a place in mission for your group that will fit almost everyone’s needs, capabilities, interests, ability to travel, budget and time.
'An enormous phenomenon'
Scholar estimates that 2 million U.S. Christians travel abroad annually on short-term mission

Short-term mission trips are “an enormous phenomenon" and "central to the ministry practices of a high proportion” of Christians in the United States, according to a seminary professor who studies the trend.
