The pace may be busy,
the workers few, and the tasks many. It’s a job sure to
require multitasking. It’s campus ministry.
Quite often there aren’t a lot of people around—perhaps
only two or three. But two or three—sometimes the number
of leaders and volunteers in ministry on a college campus—deliver
the best message in the world. The message is one of hope and
love in a troubled world. It is the message of the saving power
of Christ, unbounded by the restrictions of specific denominations.
It is the message delivered through campus ministries of the
Synod of Lakes and Prairies.
The synod provides grants to campus ministry efforts at both
Presbyterian-related and public institutions of higher education.
The grants are used to develop, operate, and expand congregational
and campus-based programs that reach out in faith to assist
students who want to explore their personal spirituality or
increase their community involvement.
It is a building process. Those served by campus ministry
become the servant leaders in tomorrow’s world.
Funding for campus ministry comes from the synod’s Westminster
Fund, a designated fund, and from the synod’s operating
budget, funded by mission giving from the 928 churches with
164,080 members throughout the synod.
