  Gold Divider Rule
  Asia and the Pacific

In March 2007, Forbes.com issued a report noting the increase in the number of new billionaires, many of whom were from India and China. The announcement masked the growing social and economic disparities in the Asia/Pacific region. In major Asian cities, growth and expansion are being outpaced by the number of slums, migrants, and displaced people. In China, poverty in rural areas has forced men and women to leave their homes to seek work in cities, leaving children and the elderly behind to fend for themselves. In many instances, children are the greatest victims of poverty, human rights abuses, government neglect, corruption, and natural disasters.
