Let’s Discover” is the theme of the Los Niños Primero program at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs. The program’smission is to provide quality educational experiences for preschool children, ages three to six, and their families. Children are blessed by a nurturing environment, an opportunity to develop English language skills, and preparation for academic readiness and excellence. Art and music instruction are highlights of the program. Since Mount Vernon Presbyterian began this ministry in 2001, it has grown to serve more than 110 children.

The program addresses the educational, social, and emergent English-language development needs of those who attend the three-week summer program. Preschoolers ride on buses from their communities to the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church and School Campus. The children are supported by talented, certified teachers who are multilingual and multicultural. Enrichment activities are provided for children and their parents throughout the year. Los NiñosPrimero is a mission partner of the presbytery, civic clubs, and the Mount Vernon congregation. The goal is to expand the program to a year-round preschool that will meet the educational needs of children of Latino immigrants.

The Presbytery of Greater Atlanta serves 109 churches with 45,281 members and 23 immigrant fellowships. The presbytery is also home to the Calvin Camp and Conference Center, Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, and Columbia Theological Seminary.
