2008 Multicultural Church Story Contest Winners

We thank all the congregations that submitted their stories for the contest this year and for their commitment to a new vision for the church.

The winners for the 2008 Multicultural Church Story Contest will receive $1,000 to be used in support of their multicultural ministry. The winners are:

• Midway Presbyterian Church,
  Decatur, Georgia
• Prospect Presbyterian Church,
  Maplewood, New Jersey
• Providence Presbyterian Church,
  Providence, Rhode Island
• Ray-Thomas Memorial Presbyterian Church,
  Marietta, Georgia

We evaluated the mission statement of each congregation — in the winning congregations it reflects the diverse makeup of the community. In each of the winning congregations at least 20 percent of the members represent a culture other than the dominant one in that community.
