Mission work has long been
a primary objective of Webster Presbyterian Church.
Whether giving monetary support, physical assistance, sharing
of goods and services through community based projects
like Habitat for Humanity and food collection, or spiritual
support, members are continually giving of their time and
talent.
One of their special mission projects has been the development
of an Extra Commitment Opportunity (ECO), Health Ministries
in Medically Underserved Areas,
established through National Health Ministries. Through this
ECO, they intend to partner with and provide funds
to help defray the cost of providing health services, a
health ministry or a parish nursing program to another
Presbyterian congregation in a community that is
medically underserved.
Specifically, this mission project will provide grant
funds to churches in medically underserved areas of the
United States to develop "hands-on" programs
for children and adults. Programs will include mobile health
services, screening and health risk education interventions
for children and their parents. Congregations may serve
their own membership and/or the larger community in which
the church is located and will be encouraged to work collaboratively
with public health services in reaching those most in need. |
