New Church Development
The General Assembly Task Force on Native American Ministries report, “The Comprehensive Strategy for Ministries with Native Americans,” to General Assembly recommended additional focus on urban and off-reservation Native American populations.” The Native American Consulting
Committee and the Office of Native American Congregational Enhancement
have been working on this issue by advocating for and supporting
efforts to develop ministry in urban off-reservation locations.
At the end of 2002, four locations were in development stages
of identifying, partnering and organizing some form of Native
American Ministry.
The Native American Urban Fellowship has been meeting regularly
for over a year using funds from the Presbytery of Santa Fe,
recipient of a Mustard Seed grant from the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.). The most recent events find the ministry partnering
with La Mesa Presbyterian Church to reach out into the community

The Native American Ministry (Project) of the greater Los Angeles
area continues to provide worship opportunities and support
services in the greater Los Angeles area. Worship opportunity
is available in three presbyteries (San Gabriel, Los Rancho
and Pacific) for Native Americans residing in the area twice
a month.
