PETERFALVA, Ukraine ― Because of centuries-old discrimination against Roma people, children in Roma “camps” in this and other central European countries struggle mightily to get a decent education.
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission worker Nadia Ayoub is an early childhood education specialist serving two sprawling Roma camps in this neighborhood of Beregovo, near the Ukraine-Hungary border.
She teaches 3-12-year-olds four days a week in whatever rooms are available in the homes of Roma parents. These are some of Nadia’s kids.

What beautiful faces! Thank you for putting faces to the Roma children's plight. Thanks to Nadia and her mission supporters for bringing education and hope to them.

I remember Harold Kurtz deep desire to meet the needs of Roma children and brought that information as a focus for many of us who knew little about their treatment. Some of the children in the picture certainly showed the need for better nutrition was a concern.
