Earline B. Williams, a certified public accountant with more than 30 years of consulting, private industry, and quasi-governmental experience, has accepted the position of Deputy Executive Director for Shared Services/Chief Financial Officer for the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

In this position, Williams will oversee the agency’s financial affairs and accounting, as well as the support areas of information technology, building services, mail/print center, and distribution center/Hubbard Press.

Williams, who currently serves as an independent consultant with the Griffon Group, LLC, is a PC(USA) ruling elder at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. In addition to her significant involvement with the financial ministry of Calvin Church, Williams’s past service in the Presbytery of Philadelphia included the Permanent Judicial Commission and the Committee on Mission and Oversight, under the new design of the Presbytery now named the Leadership Collegium. She was also a ruling elder commissioner to the 215th General Assembly (2003).

“Upon meeting Earline, not only did I immediately appreciate her extraordinary professional competence, but I also recognized her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ,” said Linda Valentine, executive director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency in announcing the appointment. “Her broad expertise across diverse sectors of business as well as non-profit and public sector organization coupled with her knowledge of the PC(USA) will serve the church well. She is a respected and proven leader and a committed disciple of Jesus Christ.”

Williams’s experience includes consulting positions to strengthen organizations funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Commerce, and as a subcontractor to Quadel Consulting, and BearingPoint Consulting. Williams currently leads the Board of Directors of a Head Start Program for the Presbytery of Philadelphia.  Prior to public sector work, she served in finance and accounting roles in two large corporations. Her focus has been in leadership development and management, financial planning and reporting, business and organizational improvement and redesign, systems analysis, operations, and project management.

“I am grateful that God has placed me with Christian leaders in the Presbyterian Mission Agency,” said Williams. “I am led by the Spirit, believing this is my call to serve the broader church in this time. I see work as worship, and look forward to the fellowship with my Christian sisters and brothers in carrying out God’s call for such a time as this."

In keeping with Presbyterian Mission Agency procedures, the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board executive committee will be asked to confirm the selection in a meeting later this month. Pending their confirmation, Williams will begin work on July 22.

  1. I am gratified to learn that Earline Williams has accepted this position at General Assembly. She is a committed elder and dedicated Christian of significant talents.
