  Lindsey Childs
Lindsey Childs
Lindsay is currently pursuing a Master's of Public Health degree with a concentration in Global Health and a certificate in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla., which she will complete in May 2006. Along with school, Lindsey also serves her local campus ministry board as well as the Provisional Board for the Presbyterian Association for Collegiate and Higher Education Ministries. Also working within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Lindsey is on the working group updating and reissuing the document "The Nature and Value of Human Life" for the Advisory Committee for Social Witness Policy (ACSWP). Concurrently with attending school, Lindsey is working with the local VA hospital coordinating continuing education activities for employees. In the spring she hopes to be doing pharmacological research.

In addition to serving on the Leadership Event Planning Team for the 2003 Leadership Event, Women Called to Act: Will You Keep Silent at Such a Time as This? in New York, N.Y., Lindsey served on the Coordinating Committee for two years. "NNPCW came along at a time in my life when I was not sure where my faith would lead me." Through NNPCW Lindsey met Dee Darden, "her twin." Lindsey says, "Dee and I clicked immediately when we discovered a lot of similarities between us. We call each other in tears, and in between laughs. She has made a big difference in my life."

Her involvement with NNPCW shaped who she is today. "My time with NNPCW was such a transformative experience. It opened my eyes to really empowered, confident, cool women who were making a real difference in the world and I wanted to be like that. The ministry of NNPCW helped me to search within myself and start to question things around me. No longer did I take everything that was said to me at face value, but I started to investigate and see what I truly believed."
