Field Staff Position Description for National Network of Presbyterian College Women (NNPCW)
National Network of Presbyterian College Women (NNPCW) is a network of young women in college connected by our belief in God, seeking to understand what it means to claim a Christian faith that empowers women. Rooted in the Reformed tradition, we desire to nurture young women's spiritual development through study, discussion, prayer and action. Honoring the movement of the Spirit in the lives of young women, we encourage and celebrate our theological, liturgical and ethical contributions. On behalf of young women, we carry out this mission through the larger ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). NNPCW is a ministry of the Racial Ethnic and Women’s Ministries/PW ministry area of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
This part time, contract position will serve as field staff for NNPCW and will visit college campuses and build relationships within the network, increasing awareness of the program on college campuses and throughout the larger church. NNPCW field staff will lead Bible studies, offer training on how to start a young women’s group in the Reformed tradition and network with campus ministers, congregations and presbyteries. The specific focus of the field staff is to:
- Visit colleges/universities and attend conferences in order to connect with potential members, particularly women not currently participating in NNPCW, in order to involve them in the network.
- Establish and facilitate Bible studies and engage in conversations with young women on campuses and build relationships among women in the network.
- Share information about NNPCW with campus ministers, presbyteries, congregations and others.
- Work with NNPCW’s Coordinating Committee and GAMC staff on NNPCW’s Annual Leadership Event. Attend the event and provide on-site support.
- Provide information about NNPCW activities, events and successes for inclusion in print and electronic communications, such as the e-newsletter and the NNPCW Web site.
- Collaborate with the field staff of Racial Ethnic Young Women Together, as appropriate, on shared events or conferences.
We welcome applications from individuals who are involved in or interested in nurturing the lives of young women in the PC(USA). Applicants should have prior experience or knowledge of working with college-aged or young adult women and helping them explore their Reformed identity. Applicants must be able to have a flexible schedule and be able to travel.
In addition, the applicant will have previous experience:
- working with or belonging to a diverse young women’s group, preferably within the PC(USA)
- facilitating groups
- planning meetings and conferences.
- working remotely and meeting established objectives
- building strong, productive working relationships.
