Nature of Work: Interacting with the lonely and homeless,
working in a soup kitchen, painting, light construction, and
child care with homeless children.DOOR-Denver is an urban exposure
and service program, many of our service experiences are interactive
in nature. Your group might serve food in a soup kitchen, play
with homeless children or sing with senior citizens. Other service
experiences, however, are more task oriented. You might help
in construction with Brothers Redevelopment or clean housing
units that temporarily shelter homeless families.
Group Specifications: Adult/youth ratio: 1/5; $275.00 per participant; receiving groups year round; group size: 6-75; minimum age: 13.
Project Provides: Air condition; food; housing; T-shirt; showers; tools; training; worship; an All Public Transportation option is available.
Additional Information: DOOR is partnered nationally with the PC(USA).

Puente Home Repair Service Project

Nature of Work: The Home Repair Service Project works
in the most rural reaches of the San Luis Valley, Colorado.
We identify homeowner families presenting critical home repair
needs. Often times we are working with elderly or families living
on a fixed income. Mission groups will spend several days working
along side our professional construction supervisor to repair
leaking roofs, replace floors and windows, etc. Our project
invites all skill and ability levels to participate.
Group Specifications: Adult/youth ratio: 3/10; costs: $40
per workday/per person; receives group year round; group size:
8-13; minimum age: all ages welcomed (those under 12 must have
a 1/1 adult ratio).
Project Provides: Gym; housing; kitchen; showers; tools;
training.
First Presbyterian Church, Leadville,
Colorado

Nature of Work: Painting, repairing, odd jobs for senior
citizens and lots of community service which includes contact
with senior citizens and community service outreach to the children
of the community.
Group Specifications: Up to 4 groups are accepted during
June, July, or August. Habitat for Humanity work requires a
minimum age of 16.
Project Provides: Youth Center for sleeping on floor,
kitchen, bathrooms with showers; liaison with each group who
arranges the work, one church-wide potluck dinner event.
Additional Information: Gorgeous view! Anything outdoors
is available here: hiking, rafting, climbing, fishing and more.
There are people in the congregation who can lead these trips.
Pioneer United Church of Del Norte

Nature of Work: Vacation Bible School for community.
Group Specifications: Work groups up to 50 people. Youth
groups welcome.
Project Provides: Facilities available any time of year.
There are four bathrooms, one shower on site (more available
at High School), big kitchen. Home stays can also be arranged.
Additional Information: Recreation possibilities include
Sand Dunes National Park (60 minute drive), Wolf Creek Pass
Summit and Ski Area (45 minutes), Alligator Farm (45 minutes).
Surrounded by various hot spring/pools; Rio Grand River—tubing
(10 minutes); various river rafting opportunities available.

Nature of Work: We build affordable passive solar adobe
homes in rural Colorado with families in need.
Group Specifications: 8-20 volunteers with at least 3-5
leaders. Leaders with skill in people coordination are a great
asset. March-October.
Additional Information: The San Luis Valley is located
in a beautiful mountain valley with great hiking, skiing, rafting
and hot springs. We offer community housing, meaningful work,
spiritual renewal and the opportunity to explore God’s
gracious beauty.

Nature of Work: VBS, Christian sports camp, Adult Bible Study, Evangelism, church building/grounds always needs help! Many projects involve working with local Native American community.
Group Specifications: One team (maximum 20 people) at a time for periods of 4 to 7 days. June through September.
Project Provides: Church sleeping area in Cortez, Colorado (sleeping bags a must), kitchen, municipal pool with showers available for nominal fee. Groups must provide their own food, personal items, towels, and hand tools.
Additional Information: Near Mesa Verde-4 Corners Monument, Crow Canyon Archeology Center, numerous Native American ruins, numerous campgrounds, lakes and mountains and Narrow Gauge Train (one hour away).

person, per day; receiving groups June 1-August 30; group size:
8-30; minimum age: 12
Project Provides: Beds, food, housing, showers, tools,
training, washer, dryer; transportatioin can be arranged from
either the airport or train station.
Additional Information: Located on Flathead Lake in North
West Montana, about 40 miles from Glacier National Park. Water
front activities on a pristine lake abound with rafting as an
option depending on schedule. Other activities include a high
ropes course, folf course, blobbing and more. |
