Nature of Work: DOOR is an urban exposure, education and service program. Many of our service experiences are interactive and relational in nature. Your group might serve food in a soup kitchen, play with homeless children or sing with senior citizens. Other service experiences, however, are more task oriented. Your group may paint, sort items, distribute food, or engage in light construction.
Group Specifications: Adult/youth ratio: 1/4-5; cost: $275 for one week, $95 for a regular weekend; receives groups year round; group size: 6-60; minimum age: 13.
Project Provides: Air condition; beds; food; housing; showers; tools; training; worship; t-shirt.
Additional Information: DOOR is nationally partnered with the PC(USA) at the GAC level.

Nature of Work: Organizing faith communities, social service agencies and local government to shelter homeless people during the winter months at congregational sites and providing year-round transitional housing to homeless, battered women and children.
Group Specifications: Visit to shelter sites available evenings, October-June.
Project Provides: Emergency shelter during the winter months and transitional housing for homeless battered women.
Additional Information: 130 faith communities involved.

Nature of Work: We are an emergency resource center for persons in crisis situations. We supply food, clothing, tokens, prescriptions,shelter, hygiene kits, counseling, case management, as well as other services.
Group Specifications: Small facility make sit difficult to have groups with more than 15, especially in the hours we serve clients. Minimum age: 12; adult/youth ratio: 1/15
Additional Information: Presbyterian Urban Ministries is part of a country-wide network of agencies to help homeless and low income persons.
