Parsons and Maggs release statement on death of Bill Forbes
The Reverend Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, and Robert Maggs, President and Chief Executive for the Board of Pensions, issued a statement today after learning of the death of the Reverend William Ross (Bill) Forbes.
Forbes died early this morning at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Md., after an extended struggle with pancreatic cancer.

2009-2011 Book of Order is available
 The new 2009-2011 Book of Order is now available. The book incorporates the amendments to this part of the PC(USA) Constitution that were proposed by the 218th General Assembly (2008) and approved by a majority of the 173 presbyteries.
The amendments went into effect on June 28, 2009, which is one year after the adjournment of the 218th General Assembly. Printed copies of the 2009-2011 Book of Order are available for $10 through the Presbyterian Distribution Service. Call (800) 524-2612 and ask for item #OGA09-001.

PC(USA) 2008 statistics are released
The Office of the General Assembly has released the 2008 statistics of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The statistical material includes:
Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, issued a statement with the 2008 statistics. In it, he reflects on the implications of the latest numbers.

Office of the General Assembly announces staff changes
The Office of the General Assembly has announced a reduction in the staff of the Office of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The announcement was made by Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, in an all-staff meeting on June 5, 2009.
“We deeply regret having to say goodbye to people who have given loyal service to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.),” said Parsons. He added, “These changes are necessary for good stewardship of the resources we have been given, and to match resources with future goals.”

GA 218 Moderator, Stated Clerk, and GAC Executive Director send churchwide letter addressing amendment votes
Bruce Reyes-Chow, Gradye Parsons, and Linda Valentine have sent a letter to PC(USA) presbyteries and their congregations that addresses the outcome of presbyteries’ votes on GA 218 amendments.
"Among the hundreds of actions taken by the 218th General Assembly (2008) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) last summer were ten amendments to the church’s Constitution and four ecumenical statements that were then
sent to all 173 presbyteries for ratification ...

"While presbyteries have until June 28 to vote, the Office of the General Assembly has now received official
notification from enough presbyteries to know the outcome of each item."
