The Member Referral Service is a tool designed to assist recently relocated church members, greeting them as they enter new communities and welcoming them to a new congregation of faith.
Benefits
- Enables a congregation to greet and welcome newcomers by name
- Helps individuals and families reconnect to a spiritual community
- Provides needed support and stability in a time of transition
- Draws upon the connectional nature of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
How the service works
- The Member Referral Service form is submitted to the Office of the General Assembly (OGA).
- OGA sends the information to the presbytery where the newcomers have moved.
- The presbytery (a) sends the information to congregations in the area, asking them to make contact with the newcomers, and (b) lets the newcomers know which congregations have received their information.
- Congregations in the area make contact with the newcomers and provide an update to the presbytery within a month of the referral.
