Welcome back to Perspectives!

We promised you variety - and this month you'll see just that. Perspectives is designed to examine the Presbyterian Church with new eyes - to engage the Bible and our theology in exploring issues facing the Church - to utilize a constitutional and confessional framework for appreciating the ambiguities we face - to rediscover new avenues from the lessons of history that enable us to comprehend contemporary situations.

We continue to hear words of appreciation from many of you for this e-magazine, its content and its promise. As a result of your comments, we'll strive to include in each issue an article suitable for a study class, complete with discussion questions.
This month's issue starts with an outstanding Bible study written by Darrell L. Guder on 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 entitled "Ambassadors for Christ." This article is part of a larger study written for the 214th General Assembly meeting this month and focuses on the theme of the assembly meeting. As mentioned above, this article includes discussion questions at the end of the study making it quite suitable for a group or class wanting to explore this passage. Darrell L. Guder is the Henry Winters Luce Professor of Missional and Ecumenical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary.

A second article explores the role of our confessions in the life of our church and is written by Clifton Kirkpatrick, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly. It is entitled, "Our Confessional Foundations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)."

Our third article this month is a fascinating piece from the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) on "The Consequences of Economic Globalization," complete with an introduction by Páraic Réamonn, who serves as Secretary of the Communications Office of WARC. Near the end of the article, Pracha Hutanuwatr, a Buddhist monk and scholar, offers an enlightening look at "Globalization from a Buddhist Perspective."

And now . . . time for some good summer reading. We hope you'll continue to join us on this journey!
