POAMN is the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network,
a network of persons who are engaged in ministry with older adults. These people
work in presbyteries and synods, they are leaders in congregations, and some
serve in specialized ministries such as chaplains in care facilities and presbytery
staff who are involved with older adult ministry committees. POAMN is related
to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as a covenant network of the General Assembly
Council.

What is the history of POAMN?
The Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network (POAMN) began in 1982 when
16 synods and a number of presbytery-designated individuals began to promote
the development of older adult ministries in Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The
network expanded with the addition of Gifts of a Lifetime volunteers who were
ending their assignments, and many others. In 1989 the Association of Older Adult
Ministry Enablers was formed and became officially linked with, and partially
funded by, the Education and Congregational Nurture Ministry Unit, and by its
successor the Congregational Ministries Division.
