CLINTON, SC — The Presbyterian College community was stunned when psychology Professor Eric A. Johnson died at his home here, apparently of a heart attack, on Dec. 18. He was 39. Johnson, a faculty member since 1995, is survived by his wife, Katy, and their two young sons, Nicholas and Benjamin. A memorial service is scheduled for Jan. 8.

CALDWELL, ID — Starting next fall, students at Albertson College of Idaho will be able to earn liberal arts degrees while preparing for nursing careers. A cooperative program with Idaho State University has been approved by state education officials and awaits action by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

MEMPHIS, TN — The U.S. Department of Education is giving $500,000 to a Rhodes College program intended to improve science education and academic performance in the Memphis school system. The college will partner in the Rhodes Learning Corridor program with three city schools, the Memphis zoo and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Educators hope to inspire young participants to pursue careers in science.
