LOUISVILLE —
Candidates for stated clerk of the General Assembly Of the Presbyterian
Church (USA) have until Feb. 27 to submit their applications.
The deadline — 120 days before the June 26 opening of
the 216th Assembly in Richmond, VA — is established by the
Standing Rules of the General Assembly.
The Stated Clerk Review/Nominating Committee (SCRNC) spelled
out the process during a Jan. 28-30 meeting here.
The committee has announced that it intends to nominate the
incumbent stated clerk, the Rev. Clifton Kirkpatrick, for a third
four-year term.
The SCRNC will process the applications and make its final nomination
in April, then forward information about all the candidates to
the Assembly to be made available to commissioners.
To obtain an application form, contact the Rev. Kathy Runyeon,
stated clerk of San Francisco Presbytery and staff to the SCRNC,
by phone at (510) 849-3860, ext. 310; by email at Krunyeon@sfpby.org;
or by mail at 2024 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704.
Each candidate must provide at least three and no more than
five letters of reference or recommendation. The Committee will
notify applicants about other requirements as provided for in
