Change of address
‘Lock box’ for donations, payments moved to Pittsburgh
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE — Beginning June 1, financial donations and payments en route to the Presbyterian Church (USA) will have a Pittsburgh, PA, mailing address.
Mission Support Services (MSS) is moving its “lock box” operation — which provides a faster and more secure cash receipt system for the church and its donors — from Louisville to Pittsburgh.
According to Nagy Tawfik, the PC(USA)’s controller, the move is being made because the church’s previous vendor in Louisville is closing its local operations. “A Pittsburgh bank provided the best proposal for timely receipt and transmittal of Presbyterian funds,” Tawfik said.
The PC(USA) has used a lockbox for receipts since 1988, just after the national offices moved to Louisville. MSS receives daily notices of funds deposited into PC(USA) accounts and copies of all checks for recording purposes, Tawfik said.
He said the new lock box provider “will establish a strategic collection location where all donations and payments will be sent. It will accelerate funds availability for mission, minimize administrative costs and allow us to provide more information regarding donor wishes to our program staff.
The two key lock box addresses are those for general individual contributions to the General Assembly and for remittances from synods and presbyteries to GA accounts.
The individual contributions address: Presbyterian Church (USA), Individual Remittance Processing, P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.
The address to which synods and presbyteries should remit payments: Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbytery/Synod Remittance Processing, P.O. Box 643751, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3751.
Donors and financial agents will receive direct notices of the appropriate lock box addresses from PC(USA) Central Receiving Services with their normal receipts. A complete list of lock box addresses will be published soon on the denomination’s Web site, www.pcusa.org. For more information, contact Steve Sexton at (888) 728-7228, ext. 5571.
