Corrections to stories 04266 and 04274
by Jerry L. Van Marter
A General Assembly backgrounder on ordination standards (story #04266, June 4, 2004) incorrectly reported that the General Assembly Permanent Judicial Commission (GAPJC) has ruled that in order for the way to be clear for the ordination of non-celibate gays and lesbians, both G-6.0106b and the authoritative interpretation of the Constitution dating back to 1978 must be repealed.
It is the Advisory Committee on the Constitution, not the GAPJC, that has — since 1997 — determined that both must be repealed for non-celibate gay ordination to proceed.
Due to a typographical error, the story on membership decline in the PC(USA) reported that total giving by Presbyterians to the church in 2003 was $2.9 million. The correct figure is $2.9 billion.
