AUSTIN, TX - It can only be described as an “act of God.”

On the night of June 9, lightning struck one of the spires of the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary Chapel, sending chunks of pink stone cascading down in all directions. Some even landed across the street on the University of Texas campus.

It was the second time lightning has struck the spires of the seminary chapel. The same part of the chapel tower was struck by lightning 28 years ago, on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1976.

At that time, the repairs took a year to complete and cost more than the original construction of the Chapel. Seminary officials are still assessing the damage this time.
