NCC seeks young adult stewards

Youth will serve at St. Louis Assembly in November

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE — As part of its 2004 General Assembly, the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA (NCC) is sponsoring its second annual Young Adult Stewards Program.

The 2004 General Assembly will be held Nov. 9-11 in St. Louis.

The purpose of the stewards program is to expose young adults to the ecumenical movement at work, to nurture leadership skills and to provide support services to the assembly.

Ten young adults from just four member churches — Christian Methodist Episcopal, United Methodist, United Church of Christ, and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) — participated in the inaugural program last year. Program officials are seeking expanded participation by more member churches this year.

      For more information, visit  www.ncccusa.org/stewards2004.html.

Deadline for applications is August 1.
