Four resource center directors certified
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE — Four presbytery resource center directors have been certified by the National Training Center for Resource Center Directors after completing their certification training at Union Theological Seminary-Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA.
The newly certified resource center directors are Edith Covert of Northeast Georgia Presbytery; Mary Lou McMillin of Shenandoah Presbytery; Nancy Rodman of Monmouth Presbytery; and Mae Weed of Pittsburgh Presbytery.
Each had to complete nine units of continuing education training (CEUs) and complete a project related to their work and a field of interest.
Covert’s project was entitled, “So I’m a Presbyterian Christian: What Difference Does It Make?” McMillin’s project addressed older adult educational ministry. Rodman focused on the use of children’s literature in Sunday school. And Weed’s project examined the resource center as a presbytery-wide networking tool.
The National Training Center was founded with a grant from the Presbyterian Church (USA) Bicentennial Fund. Its executive director is Jo Bales Gallagher. For more information about the center or the certification process, contact Gallagher at 804-354-9953.
