TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College has been awarded $1,788,796 by the federal Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education. The grant was made under a program intended to strengthen historically black colleges and universities to ensure that they operate in the “academic mainstream.”

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Trinity University is one of 80 institutions of higher education in Texas chosen to receive grants from the ExxonMobil Foundation Matching Gift Program. Trinity alumni with connections with ExxonMobil made personal contributions, which were matched 3-to-1 by the foundation. The college received $53,200, including $13,300 from 33 individuals.

ALMA, MI — Students in Alma College‘s “Living the iLife” summer workshops Aug. 1-4 will use Apple computers and Apple’s digital iLife software suite to explore media technology. Youngsters from 10 to 14 years old will learn to create and edit digital photos, sound, music, and video; design slide shows, movies, and Web sites; and burn projects onto CDs and DVDs.

LAURINBURG, NC — The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust recently announced a grant of $150,000 to St. Andrews Presbyterian College for construction of an indoor, 10,000-square-foot riding arena for its therapeutic horsemanship program. St. Andrews has challenged supporters and alumni to match the grant dollar-for-dollar to fund the $335,800 project. |
