LOUISVILLE — The Presbyterian Writers Guild (PWG) is still accepting entries for its 2007 Angell Award, which will be given for the best first book written by a Presbyterian author during the past calendar year.

Deadline for the award, presented annually by the PWG in memory of renowned Presbyterian writer Jim Angell, is April 8, 2008.

“First book” means the first publication by the author assigned a Library of Congress ISBN number. Any publisher qualifies, including vanity presses, and any genre of writing qualifies.

The author should be a current member of a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation or presbytery.

The Angell Award includes a $500 cash prize. Presentation of the award will be made at the PWG’s General Assembly luncheon in San Jose, CA, this June, or at some other appropriate venue.

The winner of the 2006 Angell Award was the Rev. Bud Frimoth, a retired Portland, OR, minister, for his book Bring in the Clowns: A Metaphor for Ministry.

To enter, send three copies of the nominated book, plus biographical and contact information for the author by April 8 to: Lucretia Chew, 390 Flemish Circle, El Paso, TX 79912.
