Mooney, who was instrumental in establishing the parish nursing program within the denomination, “has been one of the pillars of the PC(USA)’s National Health Ministries,” said NHM associate Pat Gleich.
For more than three decades, Mooney has been an adjunct college professor, author, mentor and parish nurse at Overbrook. She is a regular contributor to the NHM “Healthy Living” Web site.
Mooney’s contributions to the PC(USA) extend beyond health ministries. She has been active in numerous ways in Scioto Valley Presbytery, including a term as moderator. In 2001 she was named a winner of the denomination’s Women of Faith Award, honored for “birthing health and wholeness and for living a life of Christian commitment.”
A book of letters of appreciation for Sue Mooney’s service to the PC(USA) is being gathered for the Aug. 24 celebration. To contribute, email Pat Gleich.
