The Rev. Kevin Park has been named associate for theology in the Office of Theology and Worship (OTW) of the General Assembly Council (GAC), Theology Worship and Education Ministries Director Joseph D. Small has announced.
Park was previously pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield, NJ. He also served two other PC(USA) congregations in New Jersey and has also been an adjunct professor at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Knox College in Toronto and holds Th.M and Ph.D. degrees in systematic theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Park will assume primary responsibility for OTW’s focus on “stewardship of all of life” issues. He will deal with matters such as holistic stewardship in a consumer culture, the relationship between Christian vocation and work, and care of the earth. “Christian stewardship involves all of life, public and private, including our responsibilities toward all God’s creation,” Park said. “Faithful stewardship cautions us against reckless spending as well as equally reckless complacency regarding our use of God’s gifts.”
Park’s position is funded in part by the GAC’s office of Communications and Funds Development, which also carries responsibility for stewardship education.
