PHILADELPHIA — The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has announced that it will continue to offer the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment, a benefit for active Medical Plan members and spouses designed to encourage members and their families to engage in preventive healthcare, thereby improving their overall health and helping contain healthcare costs.

The Mayo Clinic Health Assessment is a secure online questionnaire that reviews members’ current health status. Nutrition, exercise, blood pressure, cholesterol, stress, tobacco use, weight, and blood sugar are some of the areas that are evaluated.

The assessment calculates members’ health status based on currently recognized medical guidelines.

Members and spouses who take the Health Assessment will receive a confidential, personalized “action plan” that summarizes their overall health level, provides details about the actions they should take, and recommends the corresponding programs and services available to them.

“By responding to the suggestions, they are accepting personal responsibility for their overall well-being, an act of health and financial stewardship for both themselves and the greater Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) community,” BOP officials said in announcing the continuing program.

Eligible members who complete the Health Assessment by November 30 will receive a $25 gift card to one of over 350 merchants and be entered into a drawing for a one-year membership to the GlobalFit fitness center of their choice.

For details on the program and to access the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment, visit their Web site.
