On October 1 Presbyterians in Arkansas and Northern Louisiana will gather at the Cormier Rice Mill in DeWitt, Arkansas to dedicate 175,000 pounds (fourtractor trailer loads) of rice headed to Liberia. The rice project has been a wonderful collaboration between the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) David Gill, Executive Director of Ferncliff Camp and Conference and the key organizer of this initiative says, "This is the first time we have undertaken a mission initiative together. The collaborative relationship that has been built is very meaningful"

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is providing funds from the One Great Hour of Sharing to cover the cost of shipping the rice to Liberia where it will be received by the Liberian Council of Churches and divided among the member churches and communions that are responding to the needs in that country.
