Future Plans
Phases one and two have generally been successful.
Most of the objectives were achieved. The community is reasonably
stable in food availability and health, but not completely recovered
from the situation of need. The program needs recovery and mitigation
intervention to help the community to focus on future food security,
health of children and mothers for long term self-sustainability
and thus reduce dependence on donor aid. It is also the idea
to make the people of Chingale aware of their social, economic
and political rights.
The Chingale Program is therefore appealing
to donors to continue supporting the program for another year.
The budget is estimated at US $600,000 to be implemented in
four areas:
- Child Survival Program for children under
five years and mothers estimated at 6000 severely malnourished
children and 5000 pregnant women and lactating mothers.
- Agricultural Rehabilitation Program for
8500 farming families.
- Psychosocial and HIV/AIDS Awareness.
- Selective food rationing for the most vulnerable
of the under fives, mothers in weak economic status, HIV/AIDS
patients and orphaned children.
