An assessment in the Hasaba area measured and weighed children to determine if they are suffering from malnourishment. The findings of the health team say that most of the children in Hasaba will suffer from malnourishment within a short time if there is no intervention. Credit: Hege Opseth/ACT/Caritas |

Update from Zalingei office
A memorandum of understanding was prepared and signed in Al Geneina to open clinics in camps and surrounding host communities in Zalingei. There is a huge need for medical and paramedical personnel to work in the clinics, and ACT/Caritas health staff will work with partners and support their clinics and provide drugs from an airlift sent from Germany. The current stock of medicines in Nyala is 38 tons, and a medical warehouse is being set up.
The digging of pit latrines started in two schools (Surta El-Sabiya primary school - 664 students; El-Suala primary School - 368 students) affected by the IDP situation in Zalingei. In Hassa Hissa camp, 24 pit latrines have been finished, with 19 more under construction. There have been delays in latrine construction because of costs, according to staff in Zalingei. |

The opening of feeding centres is planned in Hashaba, Burga and Bashum. Materials for their construction have been ordered, and construction has started in Hashaba, but the opening has been delayed.
