A week of torrential rain has caused flooding in the various areas of Jakarta, Indonesia. The floods have created a disruption of public facilities and transportation, and have led to the displacement of about 200,000 people.

The three ACT Forum Indonesia members and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance partners, CWS-Indonesia, Yakkum Emergency Unit (YEU) and Yayasan Tanggul Bencana Indonesia (YTBI), are in continuous coordination with each other and have participated in meetings held with the international community to discuss coordination of the emergency response.

The distribution of water, tents and blankets by CWS-Indonesia has already begun. An assessment team of YEU, bringing medicines with the team, will join with YTBI’s team for mobile clinic activities. YEU is currently also exploring the possibilities of providing water filters.
