The boatyard in Nias is doing its best to fulfill the needs of the fishermen needing new boats. Many fishermen want a traditional boat carved of one tree, capable of taking one fisherman and 200 kg of fish.

Those who have lost their homes to the tsunami are now living in temporary shelters. In many of these shelters, there is lack of privacy. People want to go home as soon as possible.

On Nias Island, Indonesia, many people who lost everything to the tsunami say they are frustrated and depressed. Needlework projects give people something to do and are a source of income. ACT members in the region have arranged for such projects, and people have started making sun hats and baking pastries.
